Reviews

What families across the country say about us.

4.9 of 5 across 187 verified reviews on Google, Yelp and BBB.

“As a property manager I have used three biohazard companies. Death Cleanup is the only one who consistently communicates with the carrier and turns over the unit ready to lease.”

James P. · Property Manager, Atlanta, GA

“After my brother’s suicide we couldn’t go back into the house. They came at 1 a.m., they were kind, and they didn’t make us witness anything. They handled everything with the carrier too.”

Rachel K. · Houston, TX

“The detective on scene actually recommended them. Showed up unmarked, finished in a day, sealed everything up like the apartment was untouched. Insurance covered the entire bill.”

Daniel R. · Chicago, IL

“My mother was a hoarder for thirty years. They sorted, they salvaged what mattered, they didn’t shame her or me. We found her wedding ring under a pile of newspapers.”

Linda O. · Phoenix, AZ

“Called at 2am after a horrible accident. They were on site by 4am. Quiet, professional, and the only people in the world I’d want there that night.”

Thomas V. · Seattle, WA

“The funeral home referred them. They arrived before we were ready and waited outside for forty minutes without complaint. That kindness is the part we still talk about.”

Catherine M. · Boston, MA

Questions

What people ask, when they finally call.

Do you serve nationwide?

Yes — Death Cleanup operates a coast-to-coast network of certified bio-recovery teams covering all fifty states. On-site arrival is typically under two hours in major US metros, four to eight hours in smaller markets, twenty-four hours a day. If you can give us your ZIP code on the call, we can confirm your local arrival window in seconds.

Does insurance cover death cleanup?

Most homeowner's, renter's and commercial property policies cover biohazard remediation following an unattended death, accident or trauma. We bill insurance directly in the majority of cases — most families never see an invoice. If coverage falls short or doesn't apply, victim-of-violent-crime funds may also be available; we help you file.

How quickly can you respond?

We dispatch a certified technician within 60 minutes of your call, twenty-four hours a day, three hundred and sixty-five days a year. On-site arrival typically falls within two hours in major US metros and within four to eight hours in smaller markets.

What is unattended death cleanup, exactly?

When a person passes alone and is not found for hours, days or weeks, the body begins to decompose, releasing biological fluids and bacteria that contaminate flooring, subfloor, walls and air. Unattended death cleanup is the certified remediation of those contaminants and the restoration of the affected space to a safe, neutral state.

Do we need to be present while you work?

No. Many families choose not to be present, and we accommodate that entirely. We will coordinate with law enforcement, the medical examiner, the property manager, the funeral home or your insurance adjuster on your behalf. You can be a thousand miles away and still know it was handled correctly.

Is it safe for me to clean a death scene myself?

It is not. Bloodborne pathogens including hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV remain viable on surfaces for days. Decomposition releases volatile organic compounds that conventional cleaning products cannot neutralize, only mask. OSHA classifies this work as requiring trained, certified, fully encapsulated personnel.

How much does it cost?

Pricing depends on the scope of contamination, the materials affected and the time elapsed. A typical unattended death scene ranges from $1,500 to $25,000. Insurance commonly covers the full amount. Estimates are always free, written, and never obligate you to proceed.

Will the neighbors know what happened?

Not from us. Vehicles are unmarked. Uniforms are changed inside. We carry equipment in plain bins. We do not stage on the curb. The answer to 'who was that?' is whatever you want it to be.
